KNOWING THE LAND

In direct connection with local ecosystems, we document, learn, and propagate ancestral arts and crafts.

 2024 - 2026

Engaging directly with local ecosystems, we will document, learn, and share ancestral arts and crafts. Gaining a deep understanding of the origins and utility of materials such as wicker, wool, wood, and stone helps us cultivate a productive, sustainable, and resilient culture.

Over the course of two years, we will invite local artisans—holders of invaluable knowledge—to teach us fundamental practices for identifying and working with these natural materials, which are abundant in this bioregion.

Through creative workshops at Landra, participants will build upon these foundational skills to engage in collaborative creation; the resulting work will be showcased at the Casa da Cultura in Cabeceiras de Basto, 2025.

The activities are free, and registration is handled via email at landra.pt@protonmail.com

Knowing the Land is supported by the Dgartes "Art and Territorial Cohesion" program and the Cabeceiras de Basto Municipality, with partners including the Riodouro Parish Council and Tramas project from Teque Artes.
